Lauren Kate

Fallen
Some Angels are Destined to Fall

There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.
Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

Torment
Love Never Dies

Lucinda is sure that she and Daniel are meant to be together forever. Now they are forced apart in a desperate bid to save Luce from the Outcasts–immortals who want her dead. As she discovers more about her past lives, Luce starts to suspect that Daniel is hiding something. What if he has lied to her about their shared past? What if Luce is really meant to be with someone else?

I love this series :) the love between the two main characters Luce and Daniel is great. I can only wish to ever feel love like theirs, if only it wasn't a story.

Can't wait to read the next book by Lauren Kate.

Phoebe Kitanidis - Whisper

Phoebe Kitanidis
Whisper

I'd love a cup of coffee. . . . I wish she didn't hide how pretty she is. . . . I hope she didn't find out what Ben said about her. . . . I wish I knew how many calories were in a bite of muffin. . .

Joy is used to Hearing Whispers. She's used to walking down the street and instantly knowing people's deepest, darkest desires. She uses this talent for good - to make people happy and give them what they want. But for her older sister, Jessica, the family gift is a curse, and she uses it to make people's lives - especially Joy's - miserable. Still, when Joy Hears Jessica Whisper I want to kill my Hearing dead, and kill me too if that's what it takes, she knows she has to save her sister, even if it means deserting her friends, stealing a car, and running away with a boy she barely knows - a boy who may have a dark secret of his own.

Whisper, while it is not one of the best novels I have read I did enjoy reading it. It was a nice change from all the vampires. It's a believable storyline aswell . .  . something that might actually happen in real life if you believe in this sort of thing ;)

It is refreshing to read about sisters who don't get along all the time because in so many books it's always make believe. You'll enjoy this is you like phsycic stories. It's a moving novel about sisters becoming close and a girl realising life changes and sometimes it's not always for the best.

Lisa Mantchev - Eyes Like Stars

Lisa Mantchev
Eyes Like Stars

Welcome to the Théâtre Illuminata, where the
characters of every play ever written can be
found behind the curtain. They were born to
play their parts, and are bound to the Théâtre
by The Book--an ancient and magical tome of
scripts. Beatrice Shakespeare Smith is not
one of them, but they are her family--and she
is about to lose them all and the only home
she has ever known.

The covers for both this book and the sequel 'Perchance to Dream' are beautiful artwork done by Jason Chan. Again I was drawn to the book because of the cover and I am very glad that I was. I loved this book and have been looking everywhere for the second. In this series there is the usual love triangle but for once I am confused as to who the main character will end up with.

All of the characters are created beautifully and they make the story stand out so much more. All of them are very likable and believable characters.

This book I would highly recommend to anyone who likes the theatre and a bit of magic.

Kiersten White - Paranormalcy

Kiersten White
Paranormalcy

Evie’s always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals’ glamours.

But Evie’s about to realize that she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.

So much for normal.

Paranormalcy is a very unique book by a great author. I was drawn to this book by it's cover and I know people say "Don't judge a book by its cover" but I am glad that I did just that with this novel. I was unsure at first on whether or not I would like this book, I kept seeing it in every book shop I went to. It seemed like I was supposed to read it so after a while I decided 'what the hell' and bought the book. I am glad that I did as this has now become one of my favourite books.

This is a perfect book for any fairy, zombie and vampire fans. You will not be disappointed with Kiersten White's best selling novel. It is said that there is going to be two sequels to this novel and I can not wait to read them.

Rachel Caine - The Morganville Vampire series

Rachel Caine
The Morganville Vampires

1. Glass Houses
2. The Dead Girls' Dance
3. Midnight Alley
4. Feast of Fools
5. Lord of Misrule
6. Carpe Corpus
7. Fade Out
8. Kiss of Death
9. Ghost Town

My favourite series of all time! I love Claire the main character, she's one of the most realistic characters. Usually the main character can be too perfect or too clumsy but Claire is just human. She may be really smart but that's what makes her so believable. Her relationship with her boyfriend Shane is perfect, It makes me wish that I had a boyfriend just like him.

I love the storylines for each book and can't wait to read the next one in this series. This is a vampire series with a twist and I would recommend it to all vampire fans.

Meg Cabot - The Mediator Series

Meg Cabot
The Mediator Series

1. Shadowland (aka Love you to Death)
2. Ninth Key (aka High Stakes)
3. Reunion (aka Mean Spirits)
4. Darkest Hour (aka Young Blood)
5. Haunted (aka Grave Doubts)
6. Twilight (aka Heaven Sent)

I loved every minute of reading this series. It only took me two days because I couldn't seem to put them down once I started. Of course there's the usual love triangle, a paranormal twist and a happily ever after but this series will always be one of my favourites.

I loved the way Meg Cabot wrote this series. She used the 1st person narrative for the main character Suze, this helps you to empathise with her. Jesse is ofcourse the perfect male in these books, he is described as being too good to be true. With his looks, personality and everything else he's got going for him every teenage girl will fall in love with him. Paul is done as the usual stubborn, cocky male that usually is the third party in any love triangle. The characters are created perfectly and you grow to love them all.

The story line is unique and adds a twist the further the series goes. In some series there can be either too much romance and not enough adventure or there can be too much adventure and not enough romance but this series has enough of both.

I would recommend this series to anyone who loves to read paranormal romances and to anyone who would like to move on from reading vampire books.
